Projects

The Fairbury Community Foundation current projects:

  1. “Bring Back The Lights”
    Working with city and county officials to bring Christmas lights back to the Jefferson County Courthouse
  2. Fairbury Municipal Pool
    Working with city officials and volunteers to organize efforts to design, build and fund a new aquatic center in the Fairbury City Park
  3. Arts & Music Festivals
    Working with the Jefferson County Art Guild and local businesses to host and promote a July 4th Summer Arts & Music Festival/Craft Fair on the Square event; organize and promote the Winter Blues Festival
  4. Bonham Theatre Project
    Working to provide fundraising and operational support for Fairbury’s historic movie theatre
  5. Truancy Program
    Working with school and county officials to address truancy issues within the Fairbury Public School system and throughout Jefferson County
  6. Supervised Community Service Program
    Working with local law enforcement, city and county officials to create a supervised community service program combat the crowded jail problem by putting low risk offenders to work in the community on projects such as parks maintenance, beautification, job training.
  7. Miss Jefferson County Scholarship Pageant
    Working with the Miss Jefferson County Pageant organization to market and grow the organization and raise money to increase scholarship funding
  8. Fairbury Heritage Festival
    Working with committee members to organize and promote the 150th birthday of Fairbury and the 100th  anniversary of the Fairbury Chamber of Commerce with a community festival around Fairbury’s historic downtown square in 2019
  9. Fairbury’s Next Generation of Entrepreneurs
    Working with entrepreneurs of all ages to encourage and foster business startups to fill specific needs identified in the community
  10. Avenue of Flags – Fairbury “Flag Town”
    Working with veteran’s families, businesses and organizations to add more flags to the Ave of Flags and to replace the cotton casket flags with weatherproof nylon.
    Working with community members to encourage the purchase and display of more American flags throughout the community.
